In the spirit of Friday the 13th, we bring you a scary tale from a recent project. A customer brought us their 1 1/2-year-old HP Spectre laptop after it mysteriously stopped working. We suspected a battery issue, and sure enough, we found a swollen battery—a definite sign of trouble. After replacing it, the laptop sprang back to life, and the customer took it home, relieved to have it working again.
But the plot thickened! After just one day of use, the laptop refused to charge. Upon further investigation, we uncovered the real horror: a broken charge port that had been soldered on. While the new battery resolved the first problem, this hidden issue remained, causing more tech terror.
Although we fixed one issue, sometimes a second surprise is waiting in the shadows. We referred the customer to a specialist to tackle the charge port. Just goes to show—on Friday the 13th, you never know what might be lurking beneath the surface of your tech!
