Another day and another happy server and networking rack with a nice new battery backup!
Having a proper battery backup for your expensive servers and networking equipment is an easy and important way to protect your investment! Seriously, you do not want to rely on the power grid to provide stable, clean and consistent power. The power that comes from the wall is not ideal for expensive computer equipment. This client had an existing older UPS that start to beep stating that it was on its way out.
Using a battery backup, also known as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), is essential for any business that relies on servers and networking equipment. A UPS provides a reliable source of power in the event of a power outage, allowing servers and networking equipment to continue operating without disruption. This is important because even a short outage can cause data loss, system crashes, and other costly problems. A good UPS will send a shutdown command to the servers so they can shutdown safely and correctly instead of hard sudden shutdown. They will also protect equipment from power surges and spikes and can help to extend the lifespan of equipment by regulating the power supply.
P.S. Yes, those are Brad's legs tucked away while working on mounting the UPS. Nice jeans!
