Our client called and one of their Voice Over IP (VOIP) phones was cutting in and out. This phone we installed a few months back was just to replace and existing older system. Since the phone is seldom used the client had just discovered that it was giving them some issues. When calling from this phone the user could hear everything the other person was saying but the other person could not hear much. Very reminiscent of the old "Can you hear me now" from the past.
Turns out the ethernet cable had a bad connection due to its old age and the stress of the construction that happened on the other side of this wall around the same time we were upgrading their phone system. Plus, there was like 100 feet of extra cable hidden in the wall! We cut out the bad part of the line and all the extra slack and put new connectors on the end of the cable.
Now the phone is working great with no issues!
